The Americana at Brand <span style="font-family: Times; font-size: medium" class="Apple-style-span"><div style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10px; background-color: #ffffff"><div><div>The Americana at Brand, Caruso Affiliated&#39;s first mixed-use development, features a vibrant blend of shopping, dining and entertainment with creative residential living in a beautiful park-like setting.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Amalgamated Studios designed major project signage, Pacific Theatre marquees and wayfinding. Special show elements included The Great American Soda Pop Co., The Ice Cream Truck and retro advertising on the popular Trolley. </div></div></div></span>
The Grove <p>A Southern California landmark The Grove, is one of the most successful retail, dining and entertainment centers in the country.<br /><br />Amalgamated Studios was retained by Caruso Affiliated to assist in the identity creation and design of this world class lifestyle center. Several major icons were designed by the team at Amalgamated including the theater marquee, snack bar mural, the roof icon, wayfinding and many retail storefront signs.</p>
Jewel City Diner <p>The foods group at Caruso Affilated expanded to open the Jewel City Diner, a classic 50&#39;s themed restaurant. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Amalgamated Studios was again called upon to create the identity, neon signage, menus, burger wraps and milkshake cups. A retro website complements the brand. Working with architect FER Studio, Amalgamated also participated in early building design and interior finishes.</p>
The Whisper Lounge <p>The Whisper Lounge captures the essence of the private supper clubs of old Hollywood, where dining was viewed as a complete entertainment experience.</p><p>From the beginning Amalgamated Studios participated with the Caruso Affiliated team in creating the identity, animated neon signage, menus, wine labels, napkins and matchbooks. The Whisper brand has been expanded to the Whisper Caf&eacute;, an outdoor patio serving appetizers. </p>
Disney's California Adventures <p>As a Concept Designer and Graphic Design Director, Richard Walsh was responsible for the graphic look and feel of the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. This included early meetings with writers and producers to name and create an identity for many of the attractions, restaurants and retail shops. Richard ran an in-house design team, several outside design studios and over 15 specialty fabricators. In addition, he art directed the installation and final buyoff of&nbsp; more than 1000 graphics, from the entire fa&ccedil;ade of the Animation building to the custom logos on the trash cans.</p>
Universal's Islands of Adventure <p>During UIOA, Richard Walsh&#39;s skill as a Concept and Graphic Designer helped to establish a new breed of theme park for Universal Studios.&nbsp; Work included weekly meetings with senior management to create attraction, restaurant and retail identities for Seuss Landing and Toon Lagoon. Richard also participated in the branding of the entire project.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Audry Geisel, the widow of Dr. Seuss, was personally involved in maintaining the Seuss brand. </p>
Walt Disney Imagineering Over a 10 year period, Richard T. Walsh consulted with Walt Disney Imagineering designing for the theme park industry. This included Disney/MGM Studios, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland and still the best theme park ever, Disneyland.<br /><br />Concentrating mainly on graphics, Richard also contributed interior design, area development and project installation.
The Brain: The World Inside Your Head <p>Opening at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., the Brain exhibit uses innovative special effects, 3-D reproductions and virtual reality to delve into the inner workings of our most mysterious organ, the brain.<br /><br />Amalgamated Studios worked in conjunction with Birdsong Creative, Evergreen Exhibits and Lexington Scenic to provide concept design and final art for over 40 graphic panels.</p>
Identity <p>The definition of the word Identity is &ldquo;the condition of being oneself, and not another&rdquo;. <br /><br />Nothing is more important for a business in today&rsquo;s marketplace. Amalgamated Studios consistently provides corporate identity in the form of a corporate title, logo and supporting documentation. In addition the identity is applied to approved color palettes, typefaces, page layouts and other such methods of maintaining visual continuity and brand recognition. </p>
My Planet A location-based entertainment complex, My Planet opened up a new universe for children&rsquo;s play. Themed to a distant planet, the guests accompany Dash, your pilot, on an adventure through various play areas including Planet Play, The Asteriod Arcade and Snackmosphere.<br /><br />Several themed birthday rooms were also created including a pirate, mermaid and space theme.
Mixed-Use Retail In the world of retail, Identity is everything.<br /><br />Amalgamated Studios is consistently called upon to create the identity, design project signage, develop the sign criteria and art direct fabrication and installation for mixed-use retail.<br /> <br />Cartoon Network brought in Amalgamated Studios for their Toys R Us product launch in New York City. This project included developing the point of purchase and window displays.
Production Design Amalgamated founder Richard Walsh was responsible for the overall look of several TV programs. He played a key creative role, working directly with producers and directors, setting the style to visually tell the story within strict budget guidelines and time constraints.
Case Study <p>Amalgamated Studios had the good fortune to work with Rick Caruso and Caruso Affiliated early in the design process for The Grove. Responsibilities <span>ranged from</span> conceptualizing identity to developing major design elements including the iconic rotating theater marquee, horizontal theater marquee, snack bar mural, roof icon and wayfinding. </p>
Web Design & Implementation <p>Amalgamated Studios provides custom website solutions for businesses large and small. Well-versed in emerging internet technologies, Amalgamated designs websites that will attract new clients and increase revenue from existing ones.<br /><br />Clients receive such fully integrated web solutions, as corporate identity, search engine marketing, ecommerce, email lists and managing search engine optimization campaigns.</p>
Collateral Amalgamated Studios has produced brochures, corporate identitiy, catalogs, marketing and press kits, newsletters, directories and other print applications for a variety of clients from corporate to retail. Ancillary services include copywriting, database programming, illustration, photographer art direction and project management for all phases of the project.
